In October I stayed in the beautiful Yonder Shepherds Hut at Dimpsey, Somerset; for a mini autumn break. Dimpsey had been on my ‘To Visit’ list for over 2 years and it did not disappoint.
Tucked away in the Blackdown Hills, the drive in was beautiful. On arrival I made a beeline for the tree hung swing seat with a cup of tea in hand, watching the sunset behind.
The reading nook in Yonder was the perfect place to sit and read, whilst tucking into the white chocolate covered honeycomb and biscuits provided. One of my favourite special touches in the hut, and there was many, was the journal I found stored in the cupboard. A leather bound book full of pictures, poems, stories and polaroids from previous guests. There was a testimonial book for guests to share about their stay, but this journal was special. Visitors had shared the most special moments about their time away. I loved having the opportunity to add to the book, it felt nostalgic and heartwarming.
Everything you could possibly need is provided at Dimpsey, and I would recommend it to everyone. The perfect luxury hideaway.
When you stay, I highly recommend a visit to The Candlelight Inn for the perfect first night’s dinner. Also a trip to Lyme Regis which has something for everyone; gorgeous views, delicious food and hidden gem museums & shops throughout – including quaint bookshops (which were my favourite).
