I love photography as it allows me to take a memory that lasts a click of the shutter and capture it for eternity.

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Lucy and I am an Equine & Canine Photographer based in Essex, South East England. I travel across the country to photograph some truly special moments between two best friends – that may not speak the same language but understand each other completely.

A little bit about me...

A few things I love (besides photography, horses & dogs of course!):

  • My Ducks (I have three Campbells; Daisy, Dizzy & Evie – they are spoilt rotten)
  • Countryside & Farming – especially Rare Breeds
  • Playing the Piano
  • Quotes
  • Ice Cream
  • Arts & Crafts
  • PJ’s at 4 o’clock on a cold winter’s afternoon, with a hot chocolate (& marshmallows obviously!) and a Rom-Com Movie

When I first caught the photography bug:

For as long as I can remember, I took photographs on family holidays with my Dad. I would stand in the exact same spot as him to get the same photograph (if just a lower viewpoint). However it wasn’t until I was 9 that I decided that photography was not just a ‘thing to do’ but a passion.

One year we went to the Brecon Beacons for a family holiday, which has become by far my favourite place with its gorgeous views and tranquility. It was one of my earlier years using a digital camera and I found the most amazing feature… The Super Vivid Filter! It made every photograph pop with colour. I thought it was the best discovery ever and insisted on using it for every photograph whilst we were away.

Now, every time I look at these photos I cringe, as the grass is neon green and everybody’s faces are bright red – but the pure joy and excitement I had from finding this one feature, encouraged me to start taking and experimenting with photographs for myself and not just standing in my Dad’s footprints. That was when my passion truly started, and I can happily say that I have never used the Super Vivid Filter since.

Why I chose to start Lucy Newson Photography and specialise in Equine & Canine Photography:

I originally started working as a Photographer & Commercial Editor for a company taking photographs of dancers, headshots and events. I loved my job, however I constantly craved the countryside and animals. I therefore created Lucy Newson Photography to allow me to fulfil the ambition I had to combine my love of animals with a job that I was already so passionate about.

Specialising in dogs and horses has allowed me to work with some of the most incredible owners and their animals to capture the close bond that exists between them; showing the level of trust, friendship and affection that can only be found in these inseparable partnerships.

Finally, a thank you...

I would just like to take a quick moment to say thank you for taking a look through my website and considering me to be invited to capture your most loved friendship. Photographing these moments which can be passed through family generations is a dream job, and it is you who makes it possible, so thank you.

  • Very professional, very friendly… FAB!
