Luckily I’ve been tucked away in the office chatting to mentorship clients this week - so haven’t had to face today’s wind and rain. ☔️

I only have a couple of spaces left this Autumn/Winter for mentorship clients - and have now officially opened January 2025 for bookings 🥳 So please be quick to reach out if you would like to take one of the final spaces in 2024!

Today Tweed Turns 3 🎈

I couldn’t be prouder of this pup. From always being excited for every adventure (even a vet visit 😂), handling 5hr+ road trips like a pro, to settling in a busy pub for 2.5hrs whilst on holiday; everyday he is smashing little wins. He brings an instant smile to the face of everyone he meets, and that is what I love about him the very most 🥺

I have spent the last couple of weeks on holiday in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales with my family. And oh my, did Yorkshire steal my heart. ♥️

We stayed in a beautiful area along the Dales Way, we hiked , discovered filming locations from our favourite movies/tv series (did you recognise the farm in this photo? It’s Helen’s from All Creatures Great & Small). We drove some breathtaking roads including Buttertubs Pass, and even attempted to take my little Citroen C1 🚗 up some very questionably steep roads (easy for a landrover, scream worthy for a Citroen C1 😅🙈). Oh and to top it all, Tweed won 1st Place for Most Handsome Dog, at a village country show 🥇- you could have easily seen my smile from space.

Adding British Wool to the Vegetable Plot 🐑 🥕

Ok, so this post is not about photography (although how adorable does Dizzy the duck look 🙊).

Instead, I hoped to chat with you about a plan I have for my garden this year. My goal, long term, is to become fully self sufficient for all fruit, veg & eggs; and this year I have begun to experiment with different ways that I can make my garden more efficient.

By far the most exciting experiment of this year will be using British Wool 🐑

To my understanding (as I’m still very much learning) using wool in the garden has multiple benefits, including;

1. Natural Fertiliser: Wool contains nitrogen, an essential nutrient for plant growth. As it breaks down, it releases nitrogen into the soil, acting as a slow-release fertiliser.

2. Moisture Retention: It’s moisture retaining properties mean less watering, promoting water conservation and resilience during dry spells.

3. Improves Soil Health: As wool breaks down, it adds organic matter to the soil. Improving soil structure, aeration, and fertility over time.

4. Pest Management: Wool contains lanolin; wool used as a mulch/barrier arounds plants can help deter slugs & snails. Although not guaranteed to work, I am looking for anyway possible to keep the slugs away from my strawberries this year!

5. Supports Local Economy: Choosing British wool supports local farmers and the British wool industry

I have also popped some into an old wire bird feeder for the local birds to line their nests with (not exactly an essential use, but I quite liked the thought of our garden birds being extra comfy this year).

I purchased the wool pictured from @lucies_lambs who keeps a beautiful flock of Romney Sheep. I highly recommend reaching out to Lucie if you’d also like to experiment with wool in your garden this year; I believe she only has a couple more bags left for this season though, so be quick! The quality of the wool and customer service were excellent.
