A Day In The Life Of A Photographer On Lockdown

April 2, 2020

It’s Week 2 of lockdown in the UK. How are you all getting on?

The Clap For Our Carers, last Thursday, was incredible. Will you be joining in again tonight?

Being an outdoor photographer, I am quite limited to what I can do whilst at home. However I love a ‘Ta Da’ List, so decided to put one together that includes all of the little jobs that I have been putting off, and then included these into my day’s schedule, which I write the night before. I thought I’d show you my schedule from yesterday, as by creating one of these for me to follow, it really helps to keep me motivated and ensure that I accomplish something each day.

I thought it may help if you are struggling to establish a routine whilst at home.

6:00 Wake up & A Gratitude Exercise
6:15 Organise Finances (I am determined to be on top of my taxes this year!)
7:15 Let The Ducks Out – Sorting Their Feed, And Cleaning Their Pond (A tin bath dug into the ground)
7:45 Breakfast
8:05 Shower
8:30 Work On Blog Posts
10:00 Have a Zoom Call With My Mentors At The Training Barn
12:00 Write Up Notes & Create An Action Plan From What We Discussed In The Zoom Call
1:00 Lunch & TV (I am rewatching Waterloo Road at the moment, and loving it!)
2:15 Reply To Emails & Messages
2:45 Plan & Batch Social Media Content, Including Photographing Flatlay Images
4:15 Arts & Crafts Session (One of my favourite hobbies)
5:15 Workout (Either on my Exercise Bike, a class online, or evening running around the garden when it is sunny!)
6:15 Dinner
7:15 Clean Out The Duck’s House And Put Them To Bed
8:00 Shower
8:30 Look At Pinterest Or Youtube For Photography Inspiration, And Write Tomorrow’s Schedule
9:30 Watch A Film With The Family
11:00      Bed Time

And that’s my day. It is quite regimented, but works really well in keeping me motivated and focused.

I hope it helps, even just a little bit!

Stay Home & Keep Safe.

Sending my love to you and your families in this scary time. We will get through this! x

"Lucy is the most talented and fabulous photographer to work with, she makes it seem calm, effortless and a hugely enjoyable experience!!⠀
⠀
Lucy has a wonderful style of working, everything is carefully planned out and lots of research goes into the shoot before, so time isn’t wasted and we all know what we are doing!! ⠀
⠀
Lucy has a magical ability of just taking a couple of shots and saying ‘got it’ so you don’t stand for ages holding a pose and the photos she takes are just stunning!" ⠀

This was actually the first place I ever tried to mediate.

It didn't quite go to plan. I am neither great at sitting still nor sitting quietly. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

After 5 minutes, the camera was back out again. 🤫
⠀
This has become my favourite spot in Herefordshire. Tucked away just off a quiet country lane. If you continue to follow the hillside up to the left, you will reach the point; where you can see panoramic views of the gorgeous countryside as far as the eye can see. Not a soul about.⠀
⠀
I am so grateful to be able to travel across the UK (when Covid isn't spoiling the fun 😩) to find these special places.

My home away from home.⠀

Don't get me wrong, I am pretty partial to curling up on the sofa at 4pm with a hot chocolate and good book 📖 ; and maybe it's just been the freezing temperatures 🥶 we've had... But I can't wait to be outside again, at 8pm, with the sun lightly hovering above the horizon line. 🌅

I absolutely love catching up with Jade. Her passion for her business; rearing turkeys, geese and chickens, is completely infectious.
