Back in September, 2019, we were over the moon to be invited to the first ever UK Stinkeye Event at Craig Y Nos Castle in the Brecon Beacons. The event was run across three days with over 50 Welsh Terriers plus their owners attending. LNP had the pleasure of hosting mini private photoshoots throughout the event, in the grounds of the castle hotel.
A ‘Stink Eye’ is a well known trait of the Welsh Terrier (Welshie); it is the intense look they give when things aren’t quite going the way they want it to. It is a truly loved part of the Welshie Breed. A Stinkeye Event is the collective meet-up of lots of Welshies, a breed on the At Watch Native Dog Breeds List.
Stinkeye Events have been happening in America for years, but 2019 was the first one for the UK. I heard about the event whilst on a photoshoot with Claire & Neil and their two Welshies Dylan & Minnie as part of my ‘Help Promote Our Paws’ Campaign. Claire was one of the event organisers, and as soon as I heard about the September event I couldn’t wait to be involved; especially as it connected so well with the ‘Help Promote Our Paws’ Campaign.
During the event there was lots of activities including; walks, talks, fancy dress, raffle, painting evening, etc. As an ‘outsider’ to the Welsh Terrier Community, at the start of the event, my favourite part was learning that a lot of the Welshies there were all related! We had brothers, sisters, parents and cousins, from across the UK, all under one roof.
The weather could not have been any more perfect, with blue skies and warm temperatures the whole time. It was a truly great success and lots of money was raised for the events chosen charities; £1000 donated to Terrier SOS and £1000 donated to Many Tears Rescue with lots of tins of dog food.

Where we held the Viewing Sessions
Across the event we ran 23 photoshoots with both Welshies, and a few ‘Honorary Welshies’. Craig Y Nos was a dream backdrop for the photoshoots; we had access to all of the gorgeous grounds including the River Tawe, bridges, woodland, the gardens, and the brick/stone work of the Castle. Photographs were taken during the day by myself, and then edited that night ready for Adam to host the in-person viewings the following day. It was full on, but so so so much fun!
Below is a gallery, so that you can meet all of the dogs:
