Well they do say time flies when you are having fun. And I certainly have been this year – planning some big milestones for Lucy Newson Photography.
Hope you are all having a fabulous week in the sunshine. I’ve spent the majority of this week sitting outside, planning and organising for a very exciting year ahead.
Today I thought I would share these plans with you as I hope lots of you will join me on this adventure – and there are some amazing opportunities for you all, which you may like to be involved in!
Plan 1 – Vulnerable Native Dog Breeds Tour
If you follow my Facebook Page, you may have seen the Vulnerable Native Dog Breeds Tour I am running this year across England, Scotland and Wales. There are 38 Native British & Irish Dog Breeds that are either Vulnerable (under 300 registrations a year) or on the At Watch List (between 300 and 450 registrations a year), with recent figures from the Kennel Club stating that the Scottish Terrier (Scottie dog) and Bedlington Terrier are now also on these lists. I am therefore offering free photoshoots to owners of these breeds in order to create a Social Media Campaign and book, amongst other things, to help raise not only awareness, but also knowledge on the breeds.
The response to this campaign has been incredible already, with over 200 enquiries stretching from Plymouth to Inverness. It is heartwarming to speak to and meet so many people who are eager to change these figures.
Please head over to my Facebook Page for more information on this project and if you, or anyone you know, owns one of these breeds please get in touch and let’s organise a photoshoot!
Plan 2 – The Photography Show at Birmingham NEC
This month I was lucky enough to win tickets to The Photography Show at Birmingham NEC which is being held 16th -19th March 2019. I am really looking forward to meeting new suppliers and gathering inspiration for what I can offer you all in the future! I might also treat myself to a few bits whilst I’m there… but don’t tell anyone!
Plan 3 – All About Dogs Show – Hylands Park, Chelmsford
On the 26th & 27th May 2019 I will have my first stand at a show! The All About Dogs Show at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, is the perfect event for any dog lover; with arena displays, expert advice, have-a-go activities and of course shopping – to spoil your favourite pooch! If you are at the show pop in and say hi – it would be lovely to meet you all and your dogs.
Plan 4 – Equine Photoshoots
This year I have some gorgeous equine photoshoots booked in, which I cannot wait to get started on and meet all your horses & ponies! To develop my portfolio, as a personal project, I would also like to organise some beach equine photoshoots as well as some shoots with stunt horses & riders. If you, or anyone you know, may be interested in one of these Portfolio Photoshoots please do get in touch.
Plan 5 – Canine Photoshoots
I am very excited about the canine photoshoots booked in so far for this year. I will be photographing Cockerpoos, Labradoodles, Maltese Terriers and many more. The bluebell season is set to be particularly busy which is great as the colours are always beautiful at this time of year.
I will also be offering studio canine photoshoots this year. Creating classic portraits, where the focus of the photograph will be purely on your dog. More details coming soon…
Plan 6 – Website, Logo & Blog
Now, these plans have already come together but I’m completely thrilled with them, so thought I’d keep them on the list! I would like to quickly say a huge thank you to Wendi at Ladybird Designs for my gorgeous logo design. Wendi is super friendly, patient and extremely talented. I would also like to say a massive thank you to Primary Image Ltd who helped greatly with the technical creation and running of this website and blog. Mike at Primary Image Ltd knew exactly what I was after and really made it happen. I would highly recommend both companies! And I hope you’ve enjoyed having a peak around the new website.
So… that’s 2019! It’s looking to be quite a year.
2 months down, 10 more to go. Is anybody else excited?!
Alright then, let’s do this!
